Star Flag List

Over the years there's been discussion about the flag that hangs in the Willie House in Quihi that notes the Schweers family members that have served in World War I. We are on the hunt for the decoder ring or rather list that denotes who the family members are that correspond to each of the stars.
If you happen to have a copy of the list someplace, we would love to have a copy. You can email it to maryanne.schweers@me.com.
Alternatively, we have a book that lists family members that have served in the various wars and skirmishes.
*Note - Following are 12 pages of notes from a small 6” x 8” string-bound book containing loose-leaf pages listing members of the Schweers family that served in the military. The front cover of the book is titled “Schweers Service Flag” and has a decal of an American Flag with 48 stars. It was originally believed that these names corresponded with the stars on the military banner that was often displayed at Schweers family reunions. However, given the large number of names (261) listed in the original book, it is impossible that all these names each earned a star on the flag. Also, some of the names added later list people who served in the Middle East and later. Perhaps the banner only reflects those who served in World War II.
Some of the information in the book has already been found inaccurate and a few entries have either been corrected or deleted as untrue. It is possible that more information is inaccurate, but the names were all typed as they were found in the book. In some cases, the names are duplicated in different areas. The book begins with the following text.
“113 stars are serving or have served our country during World War I out of the Schweers and Saathoff families. Four golden stars denote that they gave their lives for our country. This service record has been supplemented to contain in addition to WWI also those of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Peace Corp.
If this account does not have the name of your son or daughter, please insert them in proper space or report them to the secretary.“
